A re-imagined collector’s edition of The Secret Garden inspired by vintage publishing design, botanical illustration, and decorative bookbinding. This project explores how illustration, surface pattern, and object design can work together to create an immersive reading experience beyond the cover itself.

The visual system was built around themes of secrecy, growth, and hidden spaces, using layered botanical imagery, ornamental key motifs, and a restrained jewel-toned palette to evoke the atmosphere of the novel. In addition to the cover illustration, the project includes custom end papers, patterned edge treatments, spine detailing, and interior decorative elements designed to function as a cohesive publishing object.

Created as a self-initiated project exploring narrative illustration, publishing design, and collectible book aesthetics.

Initially, I started with a few sketches. Then I finalized the sketch with a line drawing created in Adobe Photoshop. This line drawing was the most intense because of how dense the foliage was. I also did a color study.

Finally, I took the different assets and created a few mockups to show how it may if placed in production.
